Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach Fatai Amoo has blamed 'immaturity' for his side's loss to former champions Kano Pillars.
The Oluyole Warriors lost their lead to allow the Pyramid City side to win 2-1 in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 3 clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
A brace by Adamu Mohammed cancelled Adewale Adebayo’s brilliant 43rd brilliant effort and ensured Pillars grabbed the three points at stake
“We did not lose to Kano Pillars, but to inexperience and immaturity of the defence line.
“In football you must know when and how to defend as well as attack while listening to the referee’s whistle.
“Unfortunately, we did not come into the second half as strongly as we did in the first half. which allowed Pillars to gain strength to attack and score two goals.
“If we had remained focused we would have gone home with a point in the clash.
“We played quite well and for most part of the game had the match firmly under our control, but immaturity slipped in to ruin the good work.
“Today’s (Sunday) loss to Pillars makes it two losses on the road which is really not good.
“I think the positive in the encounter is to remain focused and play to the last whistle,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.
The loss at Kano Pillars leaves the Ibadan landlords on three points from a possible nine in the three-week old Nigerian top-flight.
